Some Friends, Always at My Side

I figured I’d post this pic of our family’s resident furball. He’s been a steadfast partner in all my writing endeavours. If ever I thought to sleep in past 5 am, when I was writing Crown of Caphedra, he’d be sure to wake me up. If he thought I was only half-asleep, he’d start as early as 4 am, trying to coax me up for breakfast. Still, I owe him for his dedication. Most of the novel was written in the wee hours of the morning when it was only him and me awake in the house.

I also wanted to express some gratitude to the friends and readers who have gotten back to me with their feedback on the novel. I’m always fascinated by how different people pick up on entirely different parts of the novel as the elements that appeal to them. The same goes for characters, with readers’ loyalty split almost evenly between Denn, Olen, and Livet.

I’m hoping to hear from more of you in the near future. The book will be undergoing a bit of a marketing push after mid-May. In preparation, I’ve been very lucky to have some friends leave notes that have helped me polish up the text. I admit there have been some typos in the early edition. Even after a half-dozen pass-throughs by just as many eyes, things slip through. Time’s been a benefit, however, and I’ve been working with some devoted aides to tidy up the odd misplaced word or punctuation mishap.

That’s all while working on the sequel, for which I am happy to say that I’ve had more offers to beta read, and am working with a few more people as advisors. Heck, I even have an equine expert to field my horse questions to. Now if only I knew a guru who could verify my presentation of necromancy…
