From my current WIP, ‘Kings of Kramwen’, here’s the finished composite of a number of sketches I did over the past couple of days. I figured I’d post it as a bit of a preview.
The art style is slightly different for me (whether it’s noticeable or not.) Normally, I do my sketches in ink and then separate light and dark layers from there, placing colour layers under the darker ink outlines. This time I did it more like a faux water colour, with pencil sketches of the component parts first, adjustments for contrast to neutral out the backgrounds, and then transparent layers of colour over top.
Doing art like this helps me set my writing mood. The fiery Caphedran picture on the back cover of my current novel was one I drew early on in my writing process, and it served as a desktop background image for me for years while I completed the manuscript.
While waiting on the sequel, however, be sure to tide yourself over by grabbing ‘Crown of Caphedra’ in paperback, ebook, or free on Kindle Unlimited – and please leave a review. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09M7V62SS
