I took a break from the writing to make sure I didn’t fall behind in worldbuilding. The streets of Lanstad will be featured more prominently in the sequel to Crown of Caphedra so it was time for them to take shape and begin to develop their own character. I’d made a general sketch of the city in ink before, but the image here is the early layout of the city that I intend to go with.
The city is divided into both and Inner and Outer Ward, each with its own city walls. The Inner Ward is the “old town” section and exclusive to the older, more connected families. The harbour castle is located there, as well as the city’s prominent lighthouse (the round structure on the bottom right of the city)- a loftily constructed minaret to serve as a beacon to ships challenging the rough waters around the flanking coastlines.
